We collect information to provide, personalize, and synchronize your vocabulary learning experience:
- Account Information: When you create an account, log in, or authenticate with Google Sign-In, we collect your email address and display name.
- Learning Progress & Study Data: WordRoot tracks your vocabulary cards, study sessions, spaced repetition schedules (FSRS algorithm data), review logs, and progress history.
- Technical & Device Data: Minimal diagnostic information (such as app version, device model, and operating system version) may be processed strictly for troubleshooting, crash resolution, and reliable server synchronization.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the data we collect solely for the following legitimate purposes:
- To provide and maintain your core vocabulary study tools and spaced repetition flashcards.
- To synchronize your learning progress and review schedules across devices securely.
- To authenticate your identity and safeguard your account against unauthorized access.
- To deliver optional local study reminders and revision notifications that you set up.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third-party advertisers or data brokers.
3. Device Permissions Used by the App
WordRoot requests only the necessary permissions required to enable specific features:

Notifications (
POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Used exclusively to deliver study reminders, streak alerts, and spaced repetition review prompts configured by you. You can turn this off at any time in device settings. -
Exact Alarms (
SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM/RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): Used to schedule timely notifications and review intervals accurately even after device restarts. - Audio: Used strictly for local word audio pronunciation playback. The app does not record or collect audio.
4. Data Storage and Third-Party Services
Your data is managed with high security standards:
- Local Storage (SQLite): Your flashcards and study history are stored locally on your device using an encrypted/isolated SQLite database to provide offline learning support.
- Google Authentication: If you choose to sign in using Google, Google's identity service processes your sign-in credentials in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
- Encryption in Transit: All communications between the mobile application and our backend servers are encrypted using industry-standard TLS / HTTPS protocols.
5. User Rights & Data Deletion (Google Play Requirement)

If you wish to delete your WordRoot account and permanently remove all associated study history, vocabulary progress, and personal details from our servers, simply send an email to wordroot.app@gmail.com with the subject "Delete WordRoot Account" from your registered email address. We will permanently delete your account and all associated server records within 30 days.
You can also clear local data stored on your device at any time by uninstalling the application or clearing the app storage in your Android system settings.
6. Children’s Privacy
WordRoot is an educational vocabulary learning application and is not intended for or directed toward children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us immediately, and we will delete such data promptly.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable legal requirements. The updated policy will be posted on this page with an updated "Effective Date". We encourage you to review this page periodically.
